Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my appointment last?
You can expect your first appointment to last an hour and a half in most cases. After that, you and the therapist can set an expectation for future appointments.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
As with any medical related appointment, there are some forms needed before you can be treated (you can download the forms to expedite the process). You will meet in private with the physical therapist for an evaluation, and then you’ll begin treatment. This may consist of exercises, hands on treatment or massage, and techniques to reduce pain and swelling.
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Sneakers are recommended. Try to wear clothing that will allow easy access to the problem area (for example: if your knee is bothering you, wear shorts if possible). You may feel free to change in one of our rooms before and after your visit.
Do I need a prescription?
Since we have a direct access license, you do not need a prescription to come to our clinic when using your health insurance plan. Health insurance plans will cover your treatment for up to 30 calendar days in this case. The exceptions: auto or worker’s compensation claims. If auto insurance or worker’s compensation is paying for your treatment, you will need a prescription.
Do I have to go to the clinic owned by my physician?
You can choose to go to any physical therapy clinic you want. We will communicate with your physician to make sure he or she approves your plan of care, as well as send him or her progress notes throughout your treatment.
Will my insurance cover my treatment in its entirety?
Every insurance plan is different. You may have a deductible, or your plan may apply a copay or coinsurance, or you may be covered at 100% with no added costs. We encourage you to call your insurance company to find out what out-of-pocket costs you can expect. If you need to create a payment plan, we would be happy to work with you.
